Rhode Island Senator
Senator Joshua Miller (Democrat - District 28, Cranston, Warwick) was born on April 17, 1954. He is Married to Nancy and has one son Nicholas. He is a 1973 graduate of Hope High School and also attended URI.
Senator Miller, a restaurant owner and operator, has served on numerous boards of organizations related to the hospitality industry, including the Rhode Island Hospitality and Tourism Association; where he also served as Vice Chairman of Political Affairs from 1998-2004 and was named the 2000 Restauranteur of the Year. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Providence/Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB), where he was named Member of the Year in 2002 and inducted into the hall of fame in 2006. He also served as President of Downtown Merchants Association from 1999-2006 and on was a member of the Board of Directors for the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation from 2001-2006.
Senator Miller also serves on the Advisory Committee for both the Institute for the Study and Practice of Non-violence and Crossroads Rhode Island Vocational Services, and on the Board of Directors for Farm Fresh Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Small Business Advocacy Council.
In addition, Senator Miller was a member of the 2006 Health Insurance Commissioners Advisory Committee and is a founding member of the Community Boating Center's Board of Directors.
Senator Miller was elected Senator on November 7, 2006.
