Director of the Office of Multicultural Programs and University Retention at Salve Regina University
Dr. Sami Nassim is a social scientist who has conducted research on the retention and successes of minority and international students on college campuses. Dr. Nassim is the founding Director of the Office of Multicultural Programs at Salve Regina University and is currently leading the university retention efforts. He has been recognized nationally for his work with both multicultural and international students.
During his tenure at Salve Regina University, as well as his nine years at the University of Delaware, he compiled a wonderful track record of leading institution-wide change toward developing a student-centered culture. In addition, he also focused on supporting student success, infusing diversity, and advocating for institution advancement, by collaborating with students, faculty and staff. He did so by creating, planning, and successfully implementing innovative and cutting-edge practices especially around retention and student success.
As a result, he has been awarded many prestigious national awards. Awards such as: The American College Personnel Association (ACPA), Voice of Inclusion Medallion, for his efforts to enhance campus-wide integration, Outstanding Professional Experience, for his unique contribution to Residence Life and his ability to create an intentional, outcome-based, vibrant campus experience for the residential student population at the University of Delaware, and the Mid-Atlantic College and University Housing Association Colors Award, for his commitment to diversity and integration.
