Maureen Maigret works as a consultant specializing in health care and aging services. A Registered Nurse, Maureen has successfully combined her healthcare background with her work in public policy. Ms. Maigret, a five-term member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, was the first woman appointed to the position of Deputy Speaker. During her tenure in the House she successfully sponsored numerous legislative measures to improve health and human services, to foster women’s equality and to make government more transparent. From 1991 to 1994 she served as Director of the State Department of Elderly Affairs and from 1999 through 2006 she served as Policy Director for Lt. Gov. Charles Fogarty working on a number of health care, long term care and government reform initiatives. Maigret serves as Vice Chair of the state Long Term Care Coordinating Council and Chair of its Aging in Community Subcommittee. She has received numerous awards from organizations for her leadership in health and long term care policy and advocacy. She currently provides consultant services for a number of entities including the Senior Agenda Coalition of RI, the Alliance for Better Long Term Care, the RI AARP and the Age Friendly RI project. Maigret has presented at state and national conferences on issues relating to aging and health and long term care. She holds a BS degree from RI College and an MPA degree from URI.
