Graduate Student at Rhode Island College
Carissa DiPietro received her BA from Rhode Island College in May 2017 with Summa Cum Laude Latin honors and honors in Psychology. Her honors thesis, titled “Term-time Employment: Effects on the Success Rates of Undergraduate Students,” uncovered important and nuanced relationships between employment while registered as a college student, first-generation student status, and academic success, which is the basis for the proposed project. A Rhode Island native and first-generation college student herself, Carissa’s long-term goals are to pursue a PhD in Cognitive Psychology and become a tenure-track professor where she can run her own research lab. Carissa is currently training as a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF) through the Rhode Island IDeA Network for Excellence in Biomedical Research (RI-INBRE). She will begin her Master’s degree at Rhode Island College in Fall 2017.
